There are also approximately 49,000 vacant jobs monthly in West Michigan—more openings than qualified people to fill them. With this in mind, it’s important to raise awareness about the types of jobs available now and in the future, as well as the many paths available to a successful career. We used to think a bachelor’s degree was the only way to a good future, but there are many pathways. Helping Students Find Their Place in the World of Work (Nov. 3, 2021)
There are lots of resources in our region to help students find the right career pathway. One new resource is called CareerPoint. CareerPoint promotes career coaching to help students and job seekers understand their interests and career goals and what it takes to succeed. Individuals are supported as they build a career profile documenting their abilities. The process enables them to make choices that align with their interests and strengths. It is an evidence-based model and was developed by West Michigan Works! Read the full post.
